DVNO font breakdown

PackFM

I haven't listened to/kept up with hip hop regularly since 2003/04 but this interview with PackFM made me laugh. Specifically this line:

DX: Now even within independent acts, there seems to be a generalization or a stereotypical Rap cat. Do you see that, also?
PackFM:
Yeah, the underground indie scene is no different. Same shit, just a different end of the spectrum. The underground cats think they're keeping it real by making music that nobody wants to hear, on purpose. I hate all rappers.

Just caught a glimpse of Kevin Stone's latest piece in the paper today.

Basically he turned this:

Into this:

Lifted from his website:
Kevin has produced an exquisite world class sculpture with unsurpassed detail and on a scale and size of incredible proportions, Weighing 6000lbs and standing 12 ft high, 14 ft wide, 35 ft long with 2 large coils in the body. Stretched out Kevin's sculpture would be over 85 ft long!

The piece will be unveiled April 25th, hopefully by then I'll have more pictures to post up of it

" Interview with Jonas & François of Soixante-Quinze

Please note, this interview is being posted in it's original, unedited form. This is a copy/paste of the email that they sent back.

1. There is not a lot of information about you guys on the internet. Give us the lowdown, include as much gossip and hearsay as you want.

Your videos are very organic, you guys use a lot of hand drawn elements & type. Do you feel that in recent years, design has been lacking because not enough people are/were using hand made elements and relying too heavily on computers?

3. France has always had a consistent output of great directors, such as the New Wavers; Truffaut & Godard, and more recently, the North American acceptance of Michel Gondry. Were you influenced by any of them?

4. What is your favorite film, and why? (Please note I said Film, not movie, and yes, there is a difference)

5. Have you guys done any films or shorts, or are you enjoying the music video business?

6. Working on the Good Life video, did you get to work with Kanye or were you stuck with the record company? If you did get to work with Kanye was he a prick?

7. Stanley Kubrick is my favortie director, have you guys seen 2001: A Space Odyssey? If yes, did you guys understand what happened to Dr. Dave Bowman at the end after he saw himself as an old man? I have seen that film 20 times and always think I know what happened, then I realize that I don't get it. Can you guys help me out?

8. You use a lot of hand drawn type in your work. Are you influenced by any old and/or current type designers?
J : Non.

9. How do you feel about the current state of music and the popularity of french pop and dance music?

10. Living here in Quebec, Canada, we get the spill over of what is popular in France, and Je veut repondre au telephone. I don't care what the song says. Do you feel the same? We can't make money if we don't answer the phone right and I am hungry.

So I was peeping IESB today and it seems Sue, Reed, Ben and Johnny might be getting the treatment they deserve.  Word is Fox has decided they want to reboot the fantastic four film franchise (trying saying that 5 times fast), making them "less Bubble Gum" and closer to "The Iron Man Template".

MAKING LAMBS ANGER TEASER from oizo mr on Vimeo.

Krazy Baldhead - Sweet night (Vicarious Bliss Psychebabble Rework)

The lesser known two of the Ed Banger crew.
To be honest I'm really more of a Mr Flash fan, but this track suprised me. I've been doing some film score/orchestral stuff as of late so the overall style of this one peaked my interest.

Here's what Vicarious Bliss said about the track in his own words

"
If you click on ‘Vicarious Bliss Pop Experience’ in my Top friends, you’ll get put through to the sleeping page that was put up for the one-off single thingy that I did with HEADBANGIRL a while back. Now you can hear a rework I’ve done of Krazy Baldhead’s mega-amazing ‘Sweet Night’.
It’s not really Vicarious Bliss (or is it ?!) but rather just something that I did for fun to mess around with orchestrations and backwards guitars and violins and chocolate muffins and my teddy-bear, with the intention of trying to annoy cousin Babble (it worked, kind of, but we still talk…).
Some of you know that I sometimes like to ‘get the f**king violins out’, kind of like on the reworks I’ve done for Cazals on Kitsuné 5 and the second Ladytron ‘Softpower’ remix in the past.
So, no, you can’t dance to it. You can’t even tap your toe to it. But that’s not the point. Is it ?"

Draculas Lament (Live)

It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better
I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide's going to turn
And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now
I'm still trying to shake off the pain of the lessons I've learned

And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the Lord I will slay him
Ah-ha-ha-ha
He'd take you from me, but I swear, I won't let it be so
Ah-ha-ha-ha
Blood will run down his face when he is decapitated
Ah
His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know, how much I love you

Die, die, die
I can't
